Blogging and Citizen Journalism Alternative to Media
Bloggers took this initiative with enthusiasm. According to media reports, on August 31, 2005, 30 thousand new pages appeared in the Google index at once. And in 2017, in connection with this date, a competition for the best blogs began. Currently, publications in ten languages can participate in it.
Experts admit that the blogosphere is the fastest growing part of the Internet, which has recently almost tripled in a year.
According to some, blogs will soon replace traditional media and even literature. For others, the blog is just one of the tools to influence public opinion. It has growth prospects due to people’s interest in political processes, elections and other socially significant events, but the importance of blogs should not be exaggerated, experts say.
“Topical Comments” provided three expert opinions on the prospects for the development of this market segment.
“Blogs will be more popular than the media”
In general, little depends on the blogger personally now, social networks are looking for their caliphs for an hour, give them 15 minutes of fame and then bloggers are not interested in their fate. There are more professional bloggers, but it often happens that the format is a blog, but in fact there is a multi-person editorial board behind it. So there is a link between traditional media and blogs.
As a result, the traditional media began to write easier, bloggers always wrote simple and enticing things. As a result, we come to the conclusion that blogs are becoming as influential as the media, but not due to the fact that their influence has grown greatly, but because the media have sunk to their level, otherwise they would lose their audience. At the moment, blogs and media are clearly competing structures for the attention of readers.
Telegram channels, for example, do not wait for the reader to visit them, they actively attract him. In politics, blogs will play the same role as the media, simply by virtue of the fact that they are strongly united in the quality of content and in the level of presentation. It is possible that blogs will be more popular in terms of managed content. Bloggers sell custom publications more easily than mass media. On the other hand, in order to fill the media sphere with your own news and an exclusive agenda, neither bloggers nor the media are needed, you can create many pages yourself, buy traffic and do how so that the agenda even reaches the regions.
